Kite setup and Control

You’ve completed the intro class and spent hours flying your small power kite. You can practically fly with your eyes closed! Now it is time to learn to control the power of a full-sized kite. The Kite Control & Set-Up class is held at the beach depending on weather conditions. If weather conditions are unfavourable, the class will be rescheduled.

Prerequisite: Power Kite Intro course or be able to fly a trainer kite to the coaches satisfaction.
Price and Duration: $160 per person ; approximately 2 hours
What you will learn:
- Choosing the location and analyzing the conditions
- Selecting the right size gear and setting it up
- Launching and landing with help and on your own
- Optimal tuning of the kite
- Use of a harness
- Learning and activating your safety release
- Water relaunching
- Body dragging and board retrieval
What you need to bring:
- Water shoes
- Wet suit or dry suit (cold weather)
- Sunglasses, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water
- Helmet (we can provide if you don't have)
What we provide:
- Kites
- Harness
- Helmet and safety pads
- Flotation Vest (PFD)

Once trained in proper kite control and set-up techniques, you're ready to practise these fundamental skills with your own equipment. These essential skills need to be acquired in order to enable you to ride a board. Once these are mastered, you are ready to transform your kite skills into motion in the final class; Get Up & Ride-Water.
